If you have a Chase Ink Cash, buying gift cards at office supply stores allows you to earn 5x on your purchases. While you can buy store GCs at any time for face value, Visa and Mastercard GCs come with a fee. Staples and Office Depot rotate a different sale each week. This calendar should be accurate 95% of the time. Sometimes a sale gets carried over so that both stores are running a sale at the same time. Staples Sale: Up to 9 GCs for no fee. Must purchase the fixed dollar amount GC. Variable GCs don’t work
Office Depot: $15 off $300. The way this actually works is to purchase either 3, 6 or 9 GCs in $200 amounts. You’ll actually pay less than face value. You can use variable amount cards. If you have both stores in your area, I’d wait until there’s an Office Depot sale.
Tip: Go at or near opening as these can often sell out.
