A number of airlines and hotels take part in some sort of opinion survey program where you can earn miles/points for completing surveys. There are also separate programs where you can earn cash or other rewards for completing surveys. The problem with all of them is that you will not qualify for most of the surveys and you won’t know that until you are already part of the way through a survey. As these surveys can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, you could spend quite some period of time before you actually complete a survey.
I’ve known about this for a while but I never really bothered because I knew it wasn’t easy. However, I noticed that I never took advantage of the 600 bonus miles that I would get for just taking one survey. This is in addition to the miles I would get for completing the survey itself. So I signed up for an account and started the first survey. After 3 or 4 minutes, I got the dreaded ” this survey isn’t right for you”. I then tried another survey and got the same results. And again, and again, and again. Finally on the 6th or 7th survey I found one that worked but it was a long one. It focused on food at grocery stores and gas stations.
Now you may think that you can just answer anything and speed this up. Problem is, they already thought of that. That may have worked 20 years ago when the internet was still rather new. These days it’s hard to game the system. There are questions to make sure you are paying attention and if you answer wrong, you’ll be kicked out of the survey.
While this was annoying, I don’t think it was anything against Opinion Miles Club itself. All of the programs are like this. What would be nice is if you could fill out a profile that would pre-approve you for surveys. While Opinion Miles Club does allow you to fill out a profile, I still ran into the same problem of not being able to complete surveys. Maybe other programs work better but I haven’t heard of them yet.
But for 600 bonus miles plus the miles you’ll get for completing the survey, I highly recommend you at least complete the one survey even if it takes several tries.
